This company was founded in 1928 under the name “Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio” by Walt Disney and Roy O. Disney. The headquarters of this media conglomerate is at the Walt Disney Studio complex in the state of Burbank, California, US. It is traded as “DIS” at New York Stock Exchange. The incumbent CEO of The Walt Disney Company is Bob Chapek. The iconic character, named Mickey Mouse, was created by Disney together with the first feature film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937). Moreover, it released some other successful multimedia projects, including Cinderella (1950), Treasure Island (1950), Alice in Wonderland (1951), and Peter Pan (1953). With successful ventures in films, it opened its Disneyland in 1955 for the general public, which led to the “Disney World '' announcement in 1965. Disney partnered with the Japanese company “The Oriental Land” to open Tokyo Disneyland in 1983, the first one outside the United States. The Disney Renaissance of the early 1990s included movies like The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and The Lion King. The company acquired Miramax Films in 1993 and merged with Capital Cities/ABC Inc., worth 19 billion USD. In 2001, it purchased Fox Family Worldwide for around 5.2 billion USD. Disney got hold of Pixar in 2006 for 7.4 billion USD. More importantly, it acquired Marvel Entertainment in 2009. Disney is one of the biggest multimedia companies in the world with its reach in broadcasting, publishing, radio, television, and streaming services.
