Part of the Tata Group, Tata Motors started its operations in 1945 and turned out to be one of the finest global car manufacturers, including both commercial and passenger vehicles. In the last fiscal year (FY24), Tata Motors’ sales went up 26% compared to the previous year.

History of Tata Motors

The journey of Tata Motors started in 1945 as TELCO (Tata Engineering and Locomotive Company) by JRD Tata. In 1954, the company went beyond locomotives when it partnered with Daimler-Benz for India's first Tata Mercedes-Benz trucks.

Tata Motors entered the passenger vehicle market in 1991 with the Tata Sierra, India followed by the launch of Indica (1998) and Tata Ace (2005). But the company’s biggest power move came in 2008 when it acquired Jaguar Land Rover from Ford for $2.3 billion.
