LIC offers life insurance plans, pension schemes, and savings options to help people secure their future. To focus on the housing finance business, LIC established an associate company, LIC Housing Finance Limited, in 1989. In the same year, the company also established LIC Mutual Fund as a trust and a subsidiary, Life Insurance Corporation, in Bahrain. By 2015, it incorporated subsidiaries in several countries, including Nepal, Sri Lanka, Singapore, and Bangladesh. During 2019, the company acquired a 51% stake in IDBI Bank, and in May 2022, it made a debut in the public market via an IPO.
