The American based multinational giant has an entire fleet of Ford trucks, utility vehicles, cars and Lincoln luxury vehicles. The company was founded in 1903 by Henry Ford and 11 other associate investors, with its headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan. Operating through 3 primary segments, automotive, mobility and ford credit, the company captures a broad market segment in the automobile industry. The automotive segment develops, manufactures, distributes and services vehicles, parts and accessories of their in-house automobiles. The mobility segment focuses on the future of automobiles, namely, self-driving cars. Ford Motor Company owns Argo AI, a developer of autonomous driving systems (self-driving vehicles). The company also owns Spin, a micro-mobility service provider. Through Ford Credit, Ford fulfils automotive financing globally. Ford acquired Jaguar in 1990 and Aston Martin in 1993, Hertz in 1994, the automobile division of Volvo in 1999 and Land Rover in 2000, only to sell Hertz in 2005 and Aston Martin in 2007. It also sold Jaguar and Land Rover to Indian automotive leader Tata Motors in 2008. Volva was also sold in 2010. However, Ford managed to avoid bankruptcy and increase market share in 2009. Ford has managed to stay updated with technology, investing in the latest automotive innovation. Ford also owns around 12% of Rivian Automotive Inc, an electric vehicle manufacturer.
