Currently headquartered in Boston, General Electric, through its incorporation in 1892, acquired all of Edison General Electric Company’s assets and two more similar companies. The original Edison General Electric Company was founded in 1878 by the legendary innovator Thomas Alva Edison. Over the centuries, General Electric has become one of the largest diversified corporations in the world. Its previous headquarters were in Fairfield, Connecticut, and it was moved to Boston in 2016. Pioneering technology worldwide, General Electric has revolutionised nine different industries through their products, including electrical and electronic equipment, aircraft engines, and financial services. GE has powered vehicles on the land, air, and sea. They have powered equipment that generates one-third of the world’s electricity. GE has always been committed to creating a cleaner world by increasing speed and efficiency while lowering costs. GE produces the most extensive global line of consumer electrical goods and Hotpoint, a top-selling home appliance brand. GE purchased RCA Corporation in 1986, including the television network National Broadcasting Company (NBC), owned by RCA Corp. In 1987, the electronics division catering to consumers of RCA was sold to Thomson SA. In a barter exchange, GE bought Thomson SA’s medical technology division. The company’s most significant sales are from the Department of Defense of the USA for defence-related equipment. Currently General Electric Company has a market cap of $188.21 Billion.
