Durant in 1908, they are now the most prominent American automobile manufacturer. General Motors Co. deals with designing, manufacturing, and selling automobiles and automobile spare parts under a plethora of brands like Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick, and GMC. They've also ventured into automotive financing services via the General Motors Financial Company, Inc. GM has achieved extraordinary success in international markets by operating through four segments (GM North America, GM International, Cruise and GM financial). Through the century of ups and down, GM even survived bankruptcy, only to become a public company in 2010 with one of the largest IPOs worldwide. Through a series of successful investments like Lyft, the ride-sharing company of $500 million in 2016, GM's rise to prominence and industry domination continued. GM also began assisting Ventec Life Systems to produce ventilators during the pandemic. GM and Honda announced an alliance to purchase, research and develop vehicles in September 2020. The company has also ended the production and sales of all its fossil-fuel vehicles by 2035. Collaborating with LG in 2021, GM announced a $2.3 million project to build a plant to manufacture batteries for electric vehicles. The company also acquired 25% of Pure Watercraft, a manufacturer of all-electrical boats. Launching the most significant investment of $7 billion in Michigan, GM announced plans to convert a plant to produce electric cars with a new battery plant.
