About General Motors Co.

General Motors Company, conceived in the Motor City of Detroit, is a multinational automotive giant headquartered in Michigan. Founded by William C. Durant in 1908, they are now the most prominent American automobile manufacturer. General Motors Co. deals with designing, manufacturing, and selling automobiles and automobile spare parts under a plethora of brands like Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick, and GMC. They've also ventured into automotive financing services via the General Motors Financial Company, Inc. GM has achieved extraordinary success in international markets by operating through four segments (GM North America, GM International, Cruise and GM financial). Through the century of ups and down, GM even survived bankruptcy, only to become a public company in 2010 with one of the largest IPOs worldwide. Through a series of successful investments like Lyft, the ride-sharing company of $500 million in 2016, GM's rise to prominence and industry domination continued. GM also began assisting Ventec Life Systems to produce ventilators during the pandemic. GM and Honda announced an alliance to purchase, research and develop vehicles in September 2020. The company also acquired 25% of Pure Watercraft, a manufacturer of all-electrical boats.
