GameStop Corp. is a leading specialty retailer in gaming, entertainment, and consumer electronics retail via its extensive network of e-commerce and physical properties. With a market capitalization of $8.137 billion, GameStop operates 4,816 stores across North America, Australia, and Europe. Originally called Babbage’s when launched in 1984, the company later got its current name in 1999. GameStop Corp’s offerings include new and pre-owned gaming consoles, video games accessories such as VR headsets, memory cards, joysticks, etc., pre-owned video game software, digital currency, downloadable entertainment content, pre-paid digital subscription cards, full-game downloads, consumer electronics, and TVs among other products. The corporation operates its businesses under Micromania, GameStop, and EB Games brands; and e-commerce platforms for collectibles under Zing Pop Culture and ThinkGeek brands. The company’s inventory was recorded at $1.141 billion in Q3 2021, registering a 32.52% increase against the $861 million reported last year. This uptick shows the company’s increased investment in inventory to cater to rising demand and reduce supply-chain issues. As the name suggests, GameStop poses to be a one-stop destination for everything games. Hence, its product portfolio also includes licensed accessories and merchandise from the TV, video game, and pop culture staples. In addition, the company’s Game Informer is a print and digital video game publication that features new title release reviews, game tips, and industry news. The President, CEO, and the company’s director is Matthew Furlong. In Q3 2021, GameStop’s net sales were $1.297 billion compared to $1.005 billion reported in Q3 2020.
