Read MoreOracle Corporation is the world's largest database software provider and the second largest provider of business applications. That also includes Oracle8 database, server-based development tools, and front- and back-office business applications. Software Development Labs was formed in 1977 by Ellison and co-founders Bob Miner and Ed Oates (the company that would become Oracle). Just in two years, the trio produced the first commercial SQL relational database management system, defying conventional thinking that technology could never scale to serve enormous volumes of data or big numbers of users. The company's ambition is to become the market leader in both middleware and applications while focusing on addressing its clients' information-management issues. Financial Out-Look Oracle remained the industry leader in database technology, with versions available for many operating systems and machines, including huge mainframes and microcomputers. Oracle purchased Sun Microsystems in 2008 for $1 billion, which included the computer programming language Java and the operating system Solaris and the popular open-source database MySQL. Oracle initially reported record revenues of $970.8 million and earnings of $117.4 million for the fiscal year ending May 31, 1990. However, these figures were below Oracle's expectations. After an internal audit caused the business to restate results for three of its four fiscal quarters, the stock price plummeted to $19.88 before plummeting to $11.62 in August. Oracle was able to get a $250 million revolving line of credit from a bank syndicate as a consequence. A few weeks later, the firm disclosed its first-ever quarterly loss of about $36 million, with spending surpassing revenues by 20%; the stock plummeted again, losing more than $2.7 billion in six months. Recently Oracle Corporation (NYSE: ORCL) released its financial results for the third quarter of the fiscal year 2021. Revenues totaled $10.1 billion, up 3% year over year. Revenues from the cloud and licensing support increased 5% to $7.3 billion. Revenues from the cloud and on-premise licenses both increased by 4% to $1.3 billion. Currently Oracle Corp. has a market cap of $384.22 Billion. It has a P.E ratio of 36.71. The shares of Oracle Corp. are trading at $182.7 .
