Sharp India Ltd, formerly known as Kalyani Sharp India is a public limited company established in 1985 as a flagship venture of the Kalyani House of Industries. The company has a joint venture with Sharp Corporation Japan, a leading manufacturer in consumer electronic products. Upon the acquisition of majority stake in 1995 by Sharp, the company is now under Japanese management. Supplying all its products under the "Sharp" brand name, the company produces and markets consumer electronic goods such as TVs, VCRs, VCPs, and audio products. With 33 plants across 26 countries and 133 countries where its products are used, Sharp India Ltd has been able to expand its market share through its dealer network in the North East Region of India, by launching numerous schemes like its 7-year warranty for CTVs, new models with improved features and functions, and exporting to countries like USA. They also have a series of certificates and awards such as ISO9001 certification, the Department of Electronic of India for Excellence in the Consumer Electronics sector, and All India Electronic and Computer Software Export Promotion Council award for Excellence in Export. The company plans to further diversify its offerings with the introduction of small audio components, CD mini components, and mini components with VCD.
