Sunil Industries Ltd., founded in 1969 as Raj Ratan Textiles Processors Pvt. Ltd., is a well-established company which engages in manual processing of cotton textiles, synthetic fabrics, and blended fabrics. It changed its name to Sunil Dyeing Pvt. Ltd. in 1981 and went public in 1991. Vinod Lath is the chairman and MD of the company. It is based in Dombivli, Maharashtra and underwent an expansion project in 1994 in order to increase the installed capacity from 600 million meters to 1050 million meters per annum. The group companies of SIL include Sunil Fabrics, Sunil Prints, Sunil Synthetics, Sunil Bleaching, Eske Tex India, and Shreeji Textiles. However, the company has faced some hiccups such as a major fire in 1996 which led to the loss of 395.88 lakhs of fixed assets and 1006.47 lakhs of stock and claim repayment from the insurance company ofRs. 160.69 lakhs and 878.87 lakhs. Despite this, the company is seeking more modernized production processes by investing in capital assets for the amount of Rs.299 lakhs further. In order to increase its credibility, it is preparing for ISO 9002 Certification while its products are being considered for ISI mark from the Bureau of Indian Standards. Due to the deceleration of economic growth, the company experienced a sharp decline in the turnover in the financial year 1999-2000.
