Prime Focus Limited (PFL) is a leading end-to-end post production services provider in the entertainment industry. Established in 1997, the company has headquarters in Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Chennai in India, and subsidiaries in the UK. Services provided by PFL include Camera Rentals, Advertising Post Production, Feature Film Post Production, Visual Effects, Animation, and Broadcast Packaging. The year 2000 saw PFL convert to public Limited status, and also introducing India's first higher-end finishing system, as well as telecine operations, look design services, and film scanning and recording services. 2003 marked the launch of the first Spirit Datacine in India, as well as providing Digital Intermediate. Two years later, motion control and digital shooting were offered. 2006 saw a strategic partnership with Adlabs and the setting up of a world-class DI facility, and the takeover of VTR plc in London. Opening of a studio at Mumbai in 2006 and Chennai facility in 2007 further extended PFL's reach. The company won a BAFT Award for Best Visual Effects in 2005. In 2008, Prime Focus entered into a strategic alliance with Warner Brothers Motion Picture Imaging and in 2009, PFL acquired various assets abroad, with Prime Focus London expanded its international reach. Acquisition of GVS Software in India in 2009, followed by a slump sale of the back end business in India in 2014 marked the end of PFL's growth story.
