With a market cap of Rs. 2.39 lakh crores, the shares of this Maharatna company and the single largest coal producer in the world surged 2.28 percent on BSE to Rs. 387.85 on Friday. Coal India declared a dividend of Rs. 5.25 on 20th February 2024. Similarly, in 2023, the company paid a dividend of Rs. 5.25 on 8th February, and in 2022, it paid a dividend of Rs. 5 on February 21st. The company experienced a marginal decline in its revenue from operations, showing a year-on-year fall of around 6.4 percent to Rs. 30,673 crores in Q2 FY25, accompanied by around 22 percent decrease in net profit to Rs. 6,275 crores, over the same period. Coal India Ltd Targets 4-5% Production Growth in FY25

Coal India Ltd (CIL) has announced that the realistic production target for the current fiscal year will be between 806 and 810 million tonnes (MT), a reduction from the previous target of 838 million tonnes, according to company Chairman P.M. Prasad. As of December in the current fiscal year, CIL's production has increased by 2.2%, reaching 543 million tonnes. However, the company is making efforts to boost production in the remaining months of the fiscal year, aiming for an overall growth of approximately 4-5%. We are targeting a production of 806-810 million tonnes in the current fiscal, Prasad stated. For the full year, we aim to achieve a realistic growth target of about 4-5%, he added. In FY24, CIL produced 773.65 million tonnes, reflecting an 11% growth compared to FY23. From April to December 2024, CIL recorded a production of 543.4 mt, a growth of 2.2% over the same period last year. The growth in offtake was 1.6%. For FY26, CIL has kept a target of close to 900 mt production. Prasad also said that the target of 1 billion tonne production by FY27 was intact. Overall, Prasad said, there would be growth in coal production in the country in FY25. In FY24, India's production of coal stood at 997 mt.
